Special Announcement
Dear Uptown District Members,
When we purchased Brewed Awakenings in 2003, I never, in my wildest dreams, would have imagined that one day I would be speaking to you as the newly appointed Executive Director of the Uptown District.
It was my privilege to be around in February 2007 when we formed the First Avenue Uptown College District. Since that time, I have served on the Board of Directors and Vice president until 2010. With each passing year, we continually achieve our initiatives and move toward our goals. Times are a changing in our District, and I am glad to be a part of it.
Thank you for your trust in me as I transition into this new role, effective April 1. I look forward to serving as your representative in this era of our District development. You will find me full of ideas, passionate about our District, and willing to walk the streets to talk and listen to your thoughts. Together we can accomplish great things that will enhance this growing District in which we live, work and play.

Large Group Meeting May 17th with Guest Speaker Libby Slappey
Please join District members and supporters at the May large-group meeting with Libby Slappey, Project Director for the NewBo City Market. The meeting will be held at noon on Thursday, May 17 at the Police Substation (1501 First Avenue SE). Lunch will be catered by Hy-Vee, and graciously sponsored by Board Members Jeff Carter (Hy-Vee Store Director) and Phil Wasta (Tallgrass Business Resources). RSVP for this meeting to
